Wednesday 4th September 2019:
Rubbish day today. Did a clean-up along the beach and filled another 20L old concrete bag full. I have six full bags from the last 3 weeks to burn up.
It is hard to burn rubbish due to the humidity but I managed with the help from some coconut tree branches.
Thursday 5th September 2019:
Started the day with a two-hour massage each from our awesome masseuse.
Spent a relaxing day at home as Guy wasn’t playing Mahjong.
The Habagat is back with rough seas, wind and a little rain. Rough conditions for a few days. Hoping it will clear up by Monday as we want to do a shopping trip to Lucena in Emma.
Involves a 1-hour Emma drive to the port, 3-hour Ro Ro crossing and 30-minute drive to the Mall in Lucena. Won’t go if it looks like rough seas due to my sea sickness.
Saturday 7th September 2019:
Brownout from 8:30am to 5:30pm (9 hours scheduled brownout). Time to relax under the veranda in the sea breeze.
The maid came early so got the washing done.
Power was finally restored at 8:00pm some 11.5 hours later. Also went off at 10:00pm for another hour.
Sunday 8th September 2019:
The Habagat is back. Not too bad in the morning but gets rather rough in the afternoon.
Had to new SS gate installed this morning. It replaced the old bamboo gate that was rather bendy and twisty after constant use. The bamboo gate served us well but time to upgrade.
Monday 9th September 2019:
Thanks all for the birthday wishes. Had a relaxing day with breakfast on the veranda watching the fishermen in the bay.
Lunch date with Guy at a “Posh” restaurant. Siesta after lunch. And caught up with John (Pom) for late afternoon drink.
And the island threw in a 5-hour brownout (1-6pm) just for good measure.
Tuesday 10th September 2019:
Had the Aluminium window, door, mirror crew back this morning to mount our two half mirrors in the guest bedrooms, replace one of the automatic door closers and check and adjust the two other closers.
And all at no cost to us. Great service.
Wednesday 11th September 2019:
Up at 5:00am and off to the port (1-hour drive in Emma) to meet the 6:30am Ro Ro to the mainland. Arrived at 9:30 (3 hours crossing) and drove to the Mall in Lucena (30-minute drive). Arrived at the Mall right on opening at 10:00am.
Shopped till 4:00pm then drove back to the terminal to catch the 6:30pm Ro Ro back to the island.
After another rough 3-hour Ro Ro crossing, we hit the road for home arriving at 10:30pm. Luckily, I took a sea sick tablet as the trip home was rather rough. Even Guy felt it. I was okay thanks to the tablet.
A long day but we were able to get everything we were after.
Thursday 12th September 2019:
Started the day with a two-hour massage each. Then off to the market for some supplies and then spent the day unpacking/putting together some of our purchases.
Cherry the maid was here in the afternoon today for her duties.
Friday 13th September 2019:
Tropical depression Marilyn hit us this morning. It was really weird as it was mirror calm on the sea, no wind and not high tide. But it did rain steady for most of the day which was very welcome as it is very dry here for a monsoon season.
Saturday 14th September 2019:
Yesterday was the calm before the storm. Only a mild depression but back to windy, rough conditions.
Monday 23rd September 2019:
Busy day today. Picked up Garry and Rexy (From AUS) who have a house 4km ish away from us. They are here at the moment for a visit as they spend part of the year here and rest back in VIC AUS.
Made our way to the other side of the island to see another aussie Harry who has a resort on the eastern side of the island.
We meet Ron (Yank) and Willie (His driver) there but alas Harry was in Boac for the day. So, we had lunch at a very nice roadside canteen.
On the way home we called into Pulang Lupa which is a historical site up in the mountains which commemorates a famous battle between the Filipinos and Americans which the Filipinos won 9 September 13th 1900).
A great day was had by all.
Wednesday 25th September 2019
Been a quiet week. Had a mild Habagat come through. Lasted for 4 days. At least this one bought some much needed rain.
