Monday 1stApril 2019:
Busy morning. Meet the carpenter with our plans for the kitchen (window bench, island and pantry). Laid out the design on the floor. Slight misalignment of about 100mm. Just moved the island so all good.
The filling of the old fish pond started today. The boys are busy.
Into Marelco (local power supplier) to pay our power connection fee (P6,171 = $167 AUS). We are now on the connection schedule list. When will it happen? Who knows.
Back into town and got a quote for a fridge, gas stove & three air conditioners. Looks good. Into Boac tomorrow to get the cash and then pay/order it.
Guy off to Mahjong after lunch and I went back to the block to record pipes and cables on paper. Sandy Loffler I have all the septic measurements recorded and locked away. Lesson learnt from Port Will.
Tuesday 2ndApril 2019:
After a block inspection (kitchen island bench coming along very nicely) it was off to Boac to the bank. Cashed up and back home for lunch.
Guy off to Mahjong after lunch and I had my siesta followed by a walk to the market for some supplies.
Wednesday 3rdApril 2019:
Two visits to the block this morning.
First visit was to see the carpenter as he needs to start the second bench under the kitchen window. Measured it all up and fits in perfectly.
Back at 10:00am to meet Leonard (aluminium windows/doors) re installation.
Our current schedule is:
~ Franie (construction foreman) should be done Wednesday 17th April
~ Leonard (aluminium man) should be done on Tuesday 23rd April – House at lockup stage
~ Bingo (painter) should be done Tuesday 30th April
Move in mid May…… Ya ya ya ya
Had a real scare with our 3 air conditioners. Got the measurements off the box and when we checked the dimensions onsite, they were way off. So back to the shop and discovered the dimensions we had were the shipping box size. Measured the air con itself and all good. Phew……
Also purchased 4 x floor fans, rice cooker, electric kettle, fridge and a gas stove. All to be delivered on Wednesday 24th April.
Thursday 4thApril 2019:
The kitchen construction is well under way. Checked out our walk-in robe and storage room for shelving. Guy will draw up the plans tonight for the carpenter. Also, the back veranda cupboards for the dirty kitchen and laundry.
Lunch at the Mahjong house today (blood jelly pork). Very yummy.
Looking at beds. The shop had nothing in stock (that we wanted) so back to our supplier for our white goods and get them to order one in for us. Tomorrow’s job.
Friday 5thApril 2019:
Kitchen benches/cupboards/drawers progressing. The old fish pond is now gone (buried under a pile of gravel). Painting and rendering progressing. Stairs/ramp to the front and back verandas underway. Busy busy busy.
After lunch Guy off to Mahjong.
Sunday 7thApril 2019:
Back to the block early as we had a frontend loader coming to level the filling carted in to bury the old fish pond. The boys did an awesome job of getting the gravel in but it would be just a huge job to level it by hand.
2 hours with the frontend loader and all done.
We filled the area with an additional 1 metre of gravel to help protect our yard in a tidal surge during a typhoon.
We now have an area big enough to build another house in front of the existing one. Need a good landscaper now.
All up cost for the frontend loader P3,000 ($81 AUS)
After lunch Guy off to Mahjong.
At 3:00pm I was back at the block to meet the Marelco (power company) to get our power connected.
Wwwooo hhooo we have power to the house. After a text message and a call to the Marelco installer we got connected (on a Sunday as well). Full steam ahead now with the power.
Can now install the water pump and pressure tank. Then we will test the flow and hopefully it will be okay. Have an alternative plan if not.
Life is good.
